Marquette County Habitat for Humanity is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.

Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual, church and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - sweat equity - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.

Located in Marquette, Michigan, Marquette County Habitat for Humanity has built or rehabbed 80 homes in Marquette County since 1992. We are currently building 5 new homes in the Marquette area that are scheduled for completion in August of 2012.

Marquette County Habitat for Humanity hires new Executive Director  Marquette County Habitat for Humanity welcomes Linda Frey as their new Executive Director.  Linda served as Board Member and then as Executive Director of the West Michigan Chapter of U.S. Green Building Council for three years, growing membership to 350 professionals.  She edited a monthly column for the business publication, MiBiz and co-hosted “Getting Green” on the PBS station WGVU-FM, in Grand Rapids.  Linda has worked on building a broad spectrum of community collaborations & educational programming that introduces sustainable practices in building design and operations.  Previously, she spent 15 years in the non-profit sector focusing on community development, serving low income homeowners in various capacities at Home Repair Services, established since 1978 in Kent County, Michigan.  Stop by the Habitat office at 1027 N.
